Background:
Inspired by the characters of the Touken Ranbu (刀剣乱舞) online collectible card game, I began writing this fanfiction years ago, publishing it on AO3. It was left unfinished – unfortunately – due to my laptop crashing and me losing all the work I had put into my storyboard. That was a huge blow to my fledgling career as a writer and put an end to any motivation I had to finish writing that story.
Recently I revisited my work out of a sense of nostalgia and made the decision to re-post it here, after putting through a few edits. Despite everything, it was a piece of work that I felt proud of and enjoyed writing. If things work out, I hope to finish what I started someday. I don’t really have a timeline in mind and I am pretty busy IRL. That said, I hope you can all give it a read and let me know what you think in the comments 🙂
With that out of the way, here’s a quick rundown on the Touken Ranbu universe.
In Touken Ranbu, the player assumes the role of a Sage, a guardian of time who prevents evil forces from messing with history and altering the course of the universe. The Sage is able to call upon legendary swords to come to their aid in battle. These swords are anthropomorphized and are depicted as attractive young men, of which Mikazuki Munechika and Kogitsunemaru (one of the most popular ships/pairings in the Touken Ranbu fandom) feature as the main characters in my fiction. Most of the other supporting characters may also be found within the Touken Ranbu universe, though I have taken the liberty to throw in a few original characters as well as part of the plot.
